Orange County's Surplus Auction Offers Vehicles and Equipment at Bargain Prices

From SUVs to Dump Trucks, Residents Can Bid on a Variety of Items

Looking for an affordable vehicle or equipment? Orange County's latest surplus auction might have just what you need.

The county is offering a range of items, including SUVs, dump trucks, vans, pickup trucks, and even golf carts. Bidding starts as low as $50 for some items, with dump trucks beginning at $1,000.

According to Comptroller Phil Diamond, "We're auctioning all sorts of things that Orange County isn't using anymore." This semi-annual event has been a tradition for eight years, aiming to repurpose county assets and benefit taxpayers.

The previous auction in August raised over $943,000, funds that contribute to public services like parks, public safety, and road maintenance.

The current auction runs through Wednesday, February 4. Participation is open to all, regardless of residency, but items must be picked up locally.

Beyond vehicles, the auction features office supplies, construction equipment, generators, exercise machines, and even fire hoses. Bidding for many items starts at just $5.

Prospective buyers should note that all items are sold "as is," and functionality isn't guaranteed. However, the county provides opportunities to inspect items at their warehouse before placing bids.

For more details or to place a bid, visit the county's public surplus auction website.
