  • Di Carlo Ristorante in Kissimmee Cited for 23 Health Violations
  • Catfish Heaven: Florida Spots Known For Crispy, Flavorful Plates

Osceola County residents rely on local dining spots to maintain high food safety standards as the area's population nears 490,000 in 2025.

Di Carlo Ristorante in Kissimmee recently received a warning from state health inspectors after 23 violations were documented during a routine check.

Inspectors flagged five high-priority issues, including a dishwashing machine with zero chlorine sanitizer and improper storage of raw beef and pooled eggs over ready-to-eat foods.

Bread rolls stored in grocery bags and a missing vacuum breaker at the mop sink also raised concerns.

While no immediate public health threat was found, officials required a follow-up inspection and issued a stop-sale order for improperly thawed salmon.

Notably, Di Carlo Ristorante faced a brief closure in June 2023 due to health violations but has since maintained a strong 4.8-star Google rating and loyal local following.

Green Living Tip✔️

🍃 Sustainable Leaf Management: Composting & Mulching Fallen Leaves for Healthier Soil

Turn autumn leaves into a valuable resource.

Composting and mulching help enrich soil, support healthy gardens, and reduce waste naturally.

Fallen leaves are nature’s fertilizer.

Instead of sending them to the landfill, using them as compost or mulch keeps nutrients in your yard and improves soil structure, moisture retention, and plant health.

🧺 Compost Leaves Naturally

  • Shred leaves to help them break down faster in the compost bin.
  • Mix brown materials (leaves) with green materials (food scraps, grass clippings).
  • Turn your compost regularly to maintain airflow and speed decomposition.

🌿 Mulch for Moisture & Weed Control

  • Spread shredded leaves around trees, garden beds, and shrubs.
  • Apply a 2–3 inch mulch layer to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
  • Refresh mulch as needed to maintain coverage throughout the season.

🌎 Reduce Outdoor Waste

  • Keeping leaves onsite reduces yard waste sent to landfills.
  • Mulching with leaves eliminates the need for store-bought mulch.
  • Supports a natural habitat for beneficial insects and soil life.

🍂 Create a Leaf Mold Pile

  • Store leaves in a simple wire bin or covered pile.
  • Keep leaves slightly moist to promote slow decomposition.
  • After several months, you'll have rich, earthy leaf mold perfect for garden soil.

💡 Tip: Shred leaves using a mulching mower for faster results.

Upcycling your leaves not only improves soil health but also supports a more sustainable yard.
